OUR MISSION

Established in 2010, Girls on Shred (GOS) is a 501(c)(3)

Our mission is to empower youth and marginalized genders including women, non-binary, and trans folk, and build community through action sports skill-building, equipment sharing, and accessible community events.

We seek to transform regional action-sport culture for the benefit of a greater diversity of recreators in and around Montana.  Girls on Shred provides recreational education by offering participants in the region opportunities to participate in various outdoor activities, including but not limited to skateboarding, snowboarding, skiing, river surfing, and roller skating.

What We Do

Skateboard and Roller Skate Clinics

We host 1-3 FREE skate clinics every month in the spring, summer, and fall. We travel thousands of miles in and around Montana to build bridges between rural skate communities.

Our first skate events took place in Missoula, MT, now, we reach over 15 rural skateparks every year.

Snowboard and Ski Clinics

We host a handful of FREE snowboard and ski clinics at Lost Trail Powder Mountain (MT), Snowbowl Ski Area (MT), and Mt Baker (WA). We are expanding our reach every year, so stay tuned for more events coming to your neck of the woods.

Shred it Forward Fundraising

In order to keep our events FREE for all participants we rely on fundraisers. Keep an eye out for our annual skate deck art auction, music events, and other fun shindigs that help us raise money to better our shred community.

Not only do we provide free clinics, we provide gear to borrow at all our events. We also giveaway thousands of dollars worth of protective gear from ProTec and thousands of dollars worth of lift tickets, rental gear, and gas money in the winter.

Bitterroot Scoot and Boogie Tour

Bitterroot, Scoot + Boogie began a conversation between friends that took physical form Memorial Day weekend of 2021. The idea was to do a femme, non-binary, and trans inclusive skate-tour through Montana and the result was more than we could have imagined.

As we embarked on a 200-mile journey from St. Ignatious to Darby, skateboarders and roller-skaters came from all over to skate the western side of the state.

We met new people, learned new things, shared food and laughter, saw some slams and witnessed unmatched levels of support for one another.

And we can’t wait to do it all again over Labor Day weekend this year! So grab your board, grab some friends and we’ll see you there!!

CDA & Spokane Skate Tour

In 2018 we held our first ever out-of-state skate event in CDA, Idaho in partnership with Imanaeul Skate and @shelaweela

We had so much fun making friendships with folks from Idaho and Washington that we expanded the event to include both states.

What People Are Saying

“I was nervous to start skating but this group of gals embrace all skill levels- my nerves disappeared when I discovered how awesome this bunch is!”

— Nora , 25

I have been searching for years for something like this to be a part of. My first Girls on Shred was at Lost Trail last season and I could not have been more giddy afterward. It was the most amazing experience to share my love for snowboarding with other women who feel the same and SHRED with them.

-Shelby, 28

“Girls on Shred is an empowering event for all women! Great way to connect with fellow females and join a girl gang! Thanks Board of Missoula for sponsoring such a rad event!!.”

— Abigail, 27

“A great group of accepting rad women! No matter your skill level or what you are trying to accomplish, they give you the confidence and enthusiasm to try it. Thank you so much for the great day and the donuts were bomb too!”

-Mia, 18

“My little lady went from never standing on a skateboard to skating around the whole park in no time! I never would have thought to bring her out to skateboard but we heard about what girls on shred was doing and decided to give it a try. My little skater girl is obsessed now!

-Heather, 38

I attended the Girls on Shred event at Mobash on 6.23.19...it was outrageously amazing!!! They had insanely knowledgeable coaches, incredibly talented skaters, and the most LADY STOKE I've ever ever ever experienced at a skate park. Talk about EMPOWERING. And on top of all of that, the clinic was FREEEEEEE, they had gear available to borrow, free vegan donuts and a raffle!!
